What Safety Precautions Should be Taken When Manually Operating the Boring Head?

As the core fixture for machine tool hole processing, the boring head has a radial fine-tuning mechanism for the tool bar that achieves precise displacement through a worm gear transmission. Operators are often confused about how to avoid accidental displacement of the tool holder. The key lies in the double verification mechanism of the locking mechanism - when the dial is positioned, the torque consistency of the lateral fastening bolts must be confirmed simultaneously.

During the installation process, it is necessary to focus on checking the contact area between the spindle taper of the boring head and the boring handle. Residual chips will cause a micron-level gap on the clamping surface, causing machining vibration. It is recommended to use the step feed method during the debugging stage, and first perform a trial boring operation to confirm the coaxiality of the tool tip trajectory and the workpiece axis. During operation, the injection angle of the cutting fluid must avoid the adjustment mechanism to prevent the lubricating medium from penetrating into the worm gear transmission pair and affecting the positioning accuracy of the boring head.

The underlying logic of safe operation is to maintain the balance of the force system. When manually advancing the boring head, the force should be applied at a uniform speed. Sudden loading will destroy the dynamic stability of the tool. The retraction action must strictly follow the order of stopping first and then retracting. Forcibly retracting in a rotating state can easily cause the blade to break. Daily maintenance requires the removal of metal dust from the adjustment guide rail. Such microparticles will change the meshing characteristics of the worm gear pair during repeated friction, thereby affecting the displacement repeatability accuracy.
